Overview
If you receive the following error while connecting or publishing to Instagram through Birdeye:
The Instagram account is restricted
OAuthException (Code: 25, Subcode: 2207050)
Meta has restricted access to the Instagram account. While the restriction is active, Birdeye cannot publish content or retrieve data on behalf of the account.
Why This Happens
This error is returned by Instagram's API when Meta has restricted the connected Instagram Professional account. The restriction is applied at the account level and is not caused by Birdeye. Common reasons include security checks, policy enforcement, or other account-related restrictions imposed by Instagram.
How to Resolve the Issue
Log in to the Instagram account directly using the Instagram app or website.
Check for any alerts, warnings, or action prompts from Instagram.
Complete any required actions, such as verifying your identity, confirming your phone number or email address, or accepting updated terms.
If no prompts are displayed, contact Instagram Support to determine why the account has been restricted.
Once the restriction has been removed, reconnect the Instagram account in Birdeye Settings, under Integrations, select Instagram.
If the Issue Persists
If the account remains restricted after completing all required actions:
Review Meta's guidance for Instagram Graph API error codes.
Contact Instagram Support for additional assistance, as only Meta can remove account-level restrictions.
Retry the connection in Birdeye after the restriction has been lifted.
Additional Information
Meta enforces this restriction and cannot be removed from Birdeye. API requests will continue to fail until Instagram restores access to the account.
