Overview
If you receive the following error while connecting or using Facebook with Birdeye:
"You cannot access the app till you log in to www.facebook.com and follow the instructions given."
Facebook has temporarily restricted API access to your account until you complete a required security or verification step directly on Facebook.
Why This Happens
This error occurs when Facebook detects that your account requires additional verification before third-party apps can access it. This may happen after unusual login activity, security reviews, or other account protection measures initiated by Facebook.
How to Resolve the Issue
Open www.facebook.com in a web browser and sign in to your Facebook account.
Complete any prompts or instructions displayed by Facebook. These may include:
Confirming your identity
Reviewing recent login activity
Completing a security check
Accepting updated terms or permissions
After successfully completing the required steps, return to Birdeye and retry the action.
If you're reconnecting your Facebook account, ensure you grant all requested permissions during the authorization process.
If the Issue Persists
If you continue to receive the error after completing the required security steps:
Sign out of Facebook and sign back in, then try again.
Verify that there are no remaining security alerts or pending actions on your Facebook account.
Review Facebook's guidance on account access restrictions:
https://www.facebook.com/help/105487009541643If the issue still isn't resolved, contact Facebook Support, as only Facebook can remove account-level security restrictions.
Additional Information
This restriction is enforced by Facebook and cannot be bypassed from Birdeye. API access is restored only after all required actions have been completed successfully within your Facebook account.
