How to configure review auto-sharing on social pages

Introduction

Birdeye's Review Auto-share Rules automatically publish qualifying customer reviews to your connected social media pages. You can configure separate rules for each supported social channel, choose which reviews qualify for sharing, define how frequently reviews are shared, and customize the appearance of shared posts using text or image templates.

Auto-share rules can be configured differently for each social media channel and location, allowing you to tailor your social sharing strategy while maintaining consistent brand messaging.

What are Auto-share Rules?

Auto-share rules define when, where, and which reviews are automatically published to your connected social media accounts.

Each rule specifies:

  • The social channel where reviews are shared.

  • The locations the rule applies to.

  • The review rating criteria.

  • The maximum number of reviews to share.

  • Whether reviews are shared daily or weekly.

  • The template used to create the social post.

You can create multiple rules for different social channels.

Before you begin

Before creating an Auto-share rule, ensure that:

  • The social media account (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) is connected to Birdeye.

  • You have permission to manage Auto-share rules.

  • Any image templates or media assets you want to use are available.

Create an Auto-share Rule

To configure auto-share rules, go to 'Settings,' click 'Reviews,' and select the 'Auto-share rules' option.

If you're creating the auto-share rule for the first time, then click the 'Create auto-share rule' button.

Click 'add rule' at the top right if rules are already added to the account.

Now, select the channel you want to create a new rule for.

NOTE:

Make sure that you have connected the social page(s) for the channel.

Configure Locations

For multi-location accounts:

  • By default, new rules apply to All locations.

  • To apply the rule to specific locations, select Selected locations, choose the required locations, and click Apply.

For single-location accounts:

  • The rule is automatically applied to the default location.

Select the layout(s) that best align with your branding and social media strategy.

Click Upload Images to upload one or more background images for the selected layouts.

You can utilize images from the asset library and other sources.

Save the Rule

Click Save to create the Auto-share rule.

After the rule is saved, a confirmation message appears.

Manage Existing Rules

You can later edit the rule, update its locations, or modify its conditions by hovering over the rule and clicking the 'Edit' button.

To delete or disable an existing rule, hover over the rule and click on the 'Actions' button. Now, select the option you want.

NOTE:

Reviews that have been deleted will remain visible on your social channels if they were shared there before deletion.

How Auto-share Works

Auto-share evaluates new reviews against the rule conditions.

Reviews are shared:

  • In chronological order.

  • On a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Until the configured sharing limit is reached.

If a weekly schedule is selected, the sharing period begins on the day the rule is created and continues for the following six days before resetting.

Important Notes

  • Reviews shared to social media remain published even if the original review is later deleted from Birdeye.

  • Separate Auto-share rules can be configured for different social media channels.

  • Multi-location accounts can apply different rules to different locations.

  • Image templates require one or more uploaded background images.

  • Only connected social accounts can be used for Auto-share.

Best Practices

  • Limit automatic sharing to no more than three posts per day for Facebook, LinkedIn, and X to avoid excessive posting.

  • Use higher-rated reviews for automatic sharing to showcase positive customer experiences.

  • Review your Auto-share rules periodically to ensure they continue matching your marketing goals.

  • Preview image templates before enabling automatic sharing.
