How can I use Skip Logic while creating a survey?

Surveys are great for generating essential customer feedback to undertake strategic growth decisions. With Birdeye, you can create customer surveys from within your account and customize it to generate essential feedback.

Birdeye's 'skip logic' tool helps you design the survey to derive the most relevant feedback from the respondents using a flow chart like logic (If... Then...Else). The tool structures your survey in a manner that is most suitable for the respondents who are taking your survey.

How does the skip logic work:

Skip logic allows you to jump to any question based on the answer to a selected question. This function helps you to take the respondent to a new question and jump questions that are not relevant to the flow for that respondent.

Example: If you ask a respondent, ‘Which of these words would you use to describe our food?’. ‘Overpriced’, ‘Delicious’ or ‘Generous portions’. If the answer is ‘Overpriced’, you may want to avoid the next few questions pertaining to the food range and skip to the question relevant to the reply, like ‘Which location did you visit?’.

Setting up skip logic in a survey question is easy. To learn more on how to create a survey, read help center article: How do I create surveys within Birdeye?

While adding questions to your survey, click on the question for which you want to apply skip logic, once the question is selected, a blue outline will appear next to it and a selection menu will appear at the bottom of the question. Click on the ‘Options’ drop-down and select ‘Add skip logic’.

Once you select the 'skip logic' option, you will need to select an answer to the question that will result in skipping the immediate question(s). You can choose from a variety of modifying tools, including 'is', 'is not', 'is greater than' etc. and need to use the 'Plus' (+) icon to add a condition. Once you have applied the 'skip logic' make sure you 'Save' your survey.

NOTE:

Since multiple skip logics are implemented in a survey, which makes this single-page survey multi-page indirectly, and in the multi-page survey, we record the partial response as well. Thus, a mandatory question can be skipped due to skip logic and may not have responses even for single-page surveys.
