Overview
If you receive the following error while publishing an Instagram post from Birdeye:
“User has not been granted access permissions.”
This error indicates that Instagram has denied the request because the connected account doesn't currently have the required permissions to perform the requested action.
Why This Happens
This error can occur when:
The Instagram account's access token doesn't include the permissions required for the API action being performed.
The connected account has restricted or insufficient permissions.
Instagram has applied additional security requirements, such as Advanced Protection, before allowing publishing through third-party applications.
How to Resolve the Issue
1. Reconnect your Instagram account
In Birdeye, go to Settings > under Integrations, select Instagram.
Disconnect your Instagram account.
Reconnect the account and grant all requested permissions during the authorization process.
2. Verify your account configuration
Ensure that:
Your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account.
The connected Facebook user has Admin access to the associated Facebook Page.
The Instagram account is properly linked to the Facebook Page in Meta Business Suite.
3. Complete any required security verification
Some Instagram Business accounts must enroll in Advanced Protection or complete additional security verification before publishing through third-party applications is allowed.
If prompted by Instagram, complete the required security steps and try publishing again.
4. Try publishing again
After completing the above steps, return to Birdeye and publish your post again.
If the Issue Persists
If the issue continues:
Disconnect and reconnect your Instagram account.
Review the Meta Developer Community discussion for known API restrictions related to this error.
Contact Birdeye Support if the issue remains unresolved.
