Facebook Error: Facebook requires identity confirmation to publish this post

Overview

If you receive the following error while publishing a Facebook post from Birdeye:

“Facebook requires identity confirmation to publish this post. Open the Facebook app on your phone and follow the instructions to verify your identity, then try again to publish.”

Facebook requires the account connected to your Facebook Page to complete an identity verification before allowing new posts to be published.

Why This Happens

This error occurs when Facebook requires additional identity verification for the account managing the Page. This security measure may be triggered due to:

  • Unusual or suspicious account activity.

  • A recent login from a new device or location.

  • A newly created or recently modified Facebook account.

  • Facebook requesting additional identity verification before allowing publishing.

How to Resolve the Issue

1. Complete identity verification in the Facebook mobile app

  • Open the Facebook app on your mobile device.

  • Sign in using the Facebook account that has Admin access to the Page.

  • Follow any prompts to verify your identity. Facebook may ask you to:

    • Confirm your identity.

    • Upload a government-issued ID.

    • Complete additional security verification steps.

You can also visit the Facebook Identity Confirmation page directly:

2. Check for pending security notifications

If no verification prompt appears immediately, check for notifications under:

Settings & PrivacySettingsSecurity and Login

Or look for any security alerts displayed after signing in.

3. Try publishing again

After completing the verification process:

  1. Return to Birdeye.

  2. Publish the post again.

If Facebook has successfully verified your identity, the post should publish normally.

If the Issue Persists

If the error continues after completing identity verification:

  • Confirm you're signed in with the correct Facebook account that manages the Page.

  • Wait a short period if Facebook is still processing your verification.

  • Contact Facebook Support if your identity verification is still pending or unsuccessful.

Additional Information

Identity verification is performed entirely by Facebook. Birdeye cannot bypass or remove this security requirement.
