How do I add contacts to my Birdeye account?
Birdeye allows you to add contacts to your account effortlessly, whether one customer at a time or multiple customers at once.
ADDING A SINGLE CONTACT
To add a single contact to your Birdeye account, follow the below steps:
Step 1 - Click on the 'Contacts' tab.
Step 2 - Click the 'Add contacts' drop-down button on the 'Contacts' page.
Step 3 - Select the ‘Add a contact' option.
Step 4 - Enter the 'Name', 'Email', 'Phone number', and 'Permissions' for the contact.
Step 5 - You can also add tags and custom fields on your contacts if required.
Step 6 - To add a custom field for the contact, enter the field details under the ‘Custom fields’ section.
Add Tags
If you click the ‘Add tags’ button, only the existing tags added to your account will appear. Select the tags you want to assign and click on the 'Apply' button to assign the tags to the contact.
ADDING CONTACTS IN BULK
Step 1 - On the 'Contacts' page.
Step 2 - Click on the 'Add Contacts' drop-down menu.
Step 3 - Select the 'Bulk import' option.
Step 4 - On the new screen, click the ‘sample spreadsheet’ button to download the template for uploading multiple contacts.
Step 5 - Fill in the customer details, including first name, last name, email, mobile phone number etc.
Under the 'Tags' and ‘Custom IDs’ columns, you can add the respective tags and custom fields to your contacts. 'Custom ID' denotes the information specific to contact.

Step 6 - Now, click the ‘Upload spreadsheet’ button to upload the spreadsheet.
Step 7 - Click the ‘Next’ button after the contacts are uploaded. Now, you can preview the information uploaded through the spreadsheet. HANDY TIP: To view the import history of spreadsheets, click the ‘Import history’ drop-down button at the bottom.
On the next screen, you will view the currently uploaded spreadsheet on the top. The information entered under ‘Custom fields’ on the Excel sheet will appear under ‘Contact field’ and be mapped to the corresponding contacts.
If a contact field is not mapped with a custom field, you will see an ‘Orange’ alert next to the ‘Contact field.' You can then map a custom field with the respective contact field manually. HANDY TIP: If the required custom field does not exist, you can create a new one using the ‘Create custom field’ option under the drop-down.

Data Type | Requirements |
Currency | Allows you to add a numerical value as a currency. (For example: '9,99.01') |
Dates | This allows you to enter the date in the format: MM/DD/YYYY (For example: 01/15/2021) |
Multiple values | Enter multiple values separated with commas. (For example: Eye, teeth, ears) |
Number | This denotes numerical values only. (i.e. 45) |
Single value | This denotes characters or numerical values. (For example: Eye or 45) |
Yes or No | This denotes 'Yes' or 'No' values only. |
After all the custom fields are successfully mapped with the respective columns, move to the next screen to import the contacts using the ‘Start import’ button.
After the contacts are successfully imported, click the ‘Return to contacts’ button. You will now be redirected to the 'Manage contacts' page, where you can view the newly added contacts. You can also view the newly added tags to the filters and use them to filter the contacts.
