How to use Visibility Reports in Search AI

Updated over a week ago

The Visibility Reports feature in Search AI helps businesses understand how often their brand is mentioned in AI-generated answers across platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity — compared to competitors.

This report provides a comprehensive view of your brand’s visibility in AI search results, helping you measure performance, benchmark against competitors, and identify areas of improvement.

By leveraging these insights, businesses can better understand their digital presence within emerging AI search ecosystems and focus efforts on themes or areas that need greater visibility.

Accessing Visibility Reports

Go to ‘Search AI’ in the left navigation rail.

Expand the ‘Reports’ section and click ‘Visibility.’

Summary

The Summary section provides a quick snapshot of how often your brand is mentioned in AI-generated responses across major large language models (LLMs). This helps you assess your overall visibility performance.

Here’s what each metric represents:

  • Visibility Score - Displays the total percentage of AI-generated responses that mention your brand across all LLMs combined.

  • ChatGPT / Gemini / Perplexity - Shows the breakdown of your brand’s visibility across individual AI platforms. This allows you to identify where your brand has a stronger or weaker presence in AI-generated answers.

You can also use the date filter to view visibility trends for a specific month reporting period, helping you analyze changes in brand mentions over time.

Downloading, Emailing, and Scheduling Reports

You can easily share or automate your Visibility Reports using the export and scheduling options available in the dashboard.

To download, email, or schedule only the Summary section, click the three vertical dots located in the Summary card.

To download, email, or schedule reports for all sections in the Visibility Reports tab, click the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the page.

AI Visibility Trends Across Themes

This chart illustrates the frequency at which your brand appears in AI-generated responses on AI platforms across all or selected themes within the specified time range. Each trend line represents visibility on a specific AI site, along with an overall visibility view.

Hover over any point on the chart to see the exact visibility percentage for that platform during the selected time period. Use this view to understand visibility trends, compare performance across AI platforms, and track changes over time across themes.

Use the 'All themes dropdown' to view visibility trends across all themes or narrow the chart to a specific theme to analyze how your brand appears for that topic over time.

Use the time period dropdown to adjust the visibility trend range. You can view how often your brand appears in AI-generated responses over the last 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months, helping you track changes in visibility and compare performance over time.

Click the generate summary icon located beside the time period filter. A quick summary will be generated for the current view, providing concise insights.

NOTE:

The generate summary option is available for all sections except Summary.

Here’s how the generated summary appears.

Website Visibility by Source and Theme

This section shows which websites or pages appear most frequently in AI-generated responses, grouped by theme and ranked by frequency of appearance.

You can view visibility across all locations and switch between ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or All to understand how your brand performs on each AI platform.

For each theme, the report displays:

  • Logos of source websites for quick visual identification

  • The frequency of mentions across AI-generated responses

  • Your brand’s visibility alongside competitors for easy comparison

IMPORTANT:

This is not a traditional ranking. It measures how often a page is mentioned in AI responses, not its SEO position. Visibility is calculated at the page level, not the domain level, providing more granular insight into which specific pages are driving AI visibility.

Click the expand icon next to a theme to view the specific pages that appear for individual prompts. This helps you understand which exact pages are being surfaced by AI models for different user questions, rather than just seeing high-level visibility.

By drilling down to the prompt and page level, this view explains why overall visibility trends change and highlights the content driving (or limiting) your AI visibility across locations.

Use the All locations dropdown to view visibility performance across all locations or selected locations. You can search for specific locations, select multiple locations at once, and click ‘Apply.’

Locations Visibility Across AI Sites for Themes

The Visibility Report shows how frequently your business locations appear in AI-generated responses across supported AI platforms, compared to competitors. This view reflects all locations and all themes combined, helping you understand overall location-level visibility trends.

The trend lines display visibility changes over time by the AI platform. Hover over a trend line to view the exact visibility percentage for that platform during the selected time period.

Use the chart view dropdown to switch between a line chart and a vertical bar chart for comparing visibility trends.

You can customize the report to focus on particular business locations or specific themes to gain deeper insights into how different segments of your brand are performing across AI platforms.

To view reports for selected locations and themes:

Click the ‘all locations’ dropdown. Select one or multiple locations you want to analyze. Click ‘Apply’ to confirm your selection.

Click the ‘all themes’ dropdown. Choose a specific theme to view visibility data related to that topic.

Toggle between All, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity to see how your brand performs on individual LLMs.

NOTE:

Trend lines will become available once three months of data have been collected.

The Competitors table lists your business (marked with a “You” tag) along with key competitors. The Average visibility column shows the percentage of AI-generated responses mentioning each brand across all supported AI platforms.

Strongest Visibility Themes

Scroll down to view which themes have the strongest visibility. This section highlights which themes are performing best across AI platforms, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. You can view:

  • Average visibility for each theme.

  • Visibility percentage breakdown across each AI platform (ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity).

The current view displays data for all locations, providing a comprehensive overview of overall theme performance. However, you can also filter this report to view results for specific locations by clicking the ‘all locations’ dropdown and selecting one or more locations.

This allows you to assess which themes perform best at each location, helping you focus marketing and SEO efforts on the topics that generate the strongest AI visibility.

How Visible are your Locations for All Themes

This section helps you understand how each of your locations performs across AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

Here, you can:

  • View the average visibility score of each location.

  • Compare how visible each location is on individual AI platforms.

  • Identify which locations are performing best and which may need improvement in AI-generated visibility.

By default, this report displays visibility across all themes, providing a complete view of your overall performance. However, you can refine your analysis by clicking the ‘all themes’ dropdown and selecting a specific theme. This lets you see how each location performs for that particular topic, helping you pinpoint high-visibility areas or opportunities for growth.
