How to create and manage Google services under Listings AI

Updated today

Businesses can showcase their services, service categories, and attributes on their Google Business Profiles (GBP) to attract the right prospects and convert them faster.

Services are an important factor in Google’s local ranking algorithm, helping improve visibility and ensure your business appears for relevant searches. Creating a detailed and well-structured list of services across locations also enables Google to better understand your offerings, improving both discoverability and conversion potential.

NOTE:

Google services view is only supported on mobile view and not on desktop view by Google.

Access Google Services

Go to the ‘Listings AI’ tab in the left navigation rail.

Click ‘Google services.’

Overview: Google Services Dashboard

  • All Services

Displays all services created across your business.

Each service includes:

  • Service Name

  • Service ID

  • Service Categories (Google categories mapped)

  • Locations mapped

  • Price (Free or Paid)

NOTE:

Once the Google page is connected for all active locations, any pre-existing services on the GBP listing will be synced in.

Hover over the ‘Three vertical dots,’ click ‘Actions’ to ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’ the service. We will explore these actions below, under the ‘Add a service’ section.

  • Services by Location

Displays services grouped by individual locations.

Each location shows:

  • Location Name

  • Number of services

  • Service Status

Service Status and Descriptions

Each service is assigned a status that indicates its current sync and availability state on your Google Business Profile.

Service Status Types

  • Synced
The service is successfully published and visible on your Google Business Profile. Updates may take up to 7 days to fully reflect.

  • Submitted
The service has been submitted successfully and is pending synchronization. Please check back later for the updated status.

  • Error
There was an issue while syncing the service. Review and fix any errors, then try syncing again.

  • Opted Out
The location is not opted in for Google listing management. You must enable Google listing management to set up and sync services.

  • Not Connected
The Google Business Profile is not connected to the location. Connect your Google account to manage listings and enable service syncing.

Manage Existing Services

Hover over the ‘Three vertical dots’ and click ‘Actions’ to ‘View' or ‘Delete’ services.

If you hover over the three vertical dots corresponding to the ‘Submitted’ service status, you will view an option to ‘Sync now’ along with ‘View’ and ‘Delete’ services.

Click ‘View services’ to view an exact representation of the services associated with that location(s), as it would be visible on your GBP listing page.

Clicking on ‘Delete all services’ will remove all associated services for the location from your GBP profile.

Add A Service

Use this option to create a new service with defined attributes and categories.

Steps to add a service

Click ‘Add a service’ on the top right corner to add a new service to your desired locations.

Service Attributes

  • Service name

A drawer opens on the right side. In the first field, enter the name of the service to be offered.

NOTE:

Services have to be created with unique service names.

  • Service description

Enter the description of the service under the ‘Service description’ field.

Use AI for Description Optimization

Click the AI button to:

  • Improve tone

  • Fix grammar

  • Adjust length

NOTE:

AI will NOT generate the description; it must be entered manually. AI will only change the tone of the description.

  • Service type

Choose the type of service if it’s ‘Free’ or ‘Paid.’ In case of a paid service, it is mandatory to add a cost/price below.

NOTE:

The currencies supported will be based on the locations configured for that account.

  • Map services to categories

If no categories are mapped to your business in the location's Birdeye Business Profile, click ‘Business profile.’ It will redirect you to the ‘Your locations’ page.

Select the desired location and ensure that you add Google categories, primary (1) and additional (9) per location, under the ‘Manage your business profile’ page.

  • Select category

If you have categories mapped, click ‘Select category’ and select the appropriate category for the service.

All associated active locations will appear in the select location dropdown based on category selection. Select the particular locations or all locations to which this service will be applicable and click ‘Save.’

You will view a toast message at the top of your screen stating that the service has been added to the selected location(s).

Edit or Delete a Service

Hover over the ‘Three vertical dots’ corresponding to the service and select ‘Edit’ to make changes in the service.

Edit allows you to update:

  • Description

  • Service type

  • Categories

  • Locations

Click ‘Save’ to confirm the changes. You cannot edit the ‘Service name.’

NOTE:

If you modify any field and save the changes, the impact is seen across all locations that one service is mapped to.

Delete removes the service from all locations.

NOTE:

  1. It is Mandatory that Google services are mapped to at least the primary category of a location before they are mapped to the additional category. Birdeye will allow creation, but will not push data to Google until the location's associated primary category also has a service.

  2. No two services should have the same service name. It is recommended that all services created have unique service names.

  3. You can have two same services across two different categories, for example, emergency counselling as a $100 paid service can be a service created and mapped to category A - Mental health and category B - Psychotherapy - both categories being there for the same location.

  4. You can select up to 10 categories in one shot during adding a service.
