Birdeye allows you to set up a domain redirect to route your customers coming to your website domain to land on your Birdeye review profile that's already indexed on Google. This article walks you through the steps involved in setting up this redirect.
Redirecting Web Domain to Birdeye Review Profile
To begin, purchase your website domain name (eg, www.yourcompanyname.com) from one of the Domain Name Registrars like GoDaddy, Hostgator, Name.com, Dreamhost, etc.
Log in to your account and head over to the DNS (Data Name Server) Management section of your account.
Within the DNS Management section, scroll down to the section labeled 'Forwarding' or 'Redirect', select 'Domain' and click on 'Add' to continue.
Complete the following fields now:
Forward to: Add your review site URL. You can obtain the same by logging into your Birdeye account and selecting 'Review profile' from the drop-down options under the 'Square' icon on the top bar.
Forward Type: Select 'Permanent (301)'. The HTTP 301 response code tells search engines that the location has moved permanently to a new destination.
โ
โSettings: Select 'Forward with masking'. This prevents the forwarded domain URL from displaying in the browser's address bar and lets you enter Meta Tags for search engine crawlers under 'Masking information'.
โ
โMasking information: Now, go ahead and complete the following fields:
Title - Displays at the top of the browser window and in search results
Description - A short description of your website to display in search engine results
Keywords - A list of comma-separated keywords that describe the content and purpose of your website
Next, confirm that you would like your Domain Registrar to update your website's 'nameservers' and DNS settings to support the change that you just made and save your settings.
NOTE:
It may take 24-48 hours for the forwarded domains to activate.
