Does the customer data uploaded through an Excel sheet overwrite the existing data?

Updated today

When you upload customer data using an Excel spreadsheet, the system checks if any contacts already exist within the Birdeye database. To prevent a case of duplicate data entry, the following events shall take place:

  • If the uploaded Excel spreadsheet contains the fields 'Email ID' and 'Phone Number' but the field 'Name' is missing, then the value of ‘Name’ shall be set to blank in the Birdeye database.

  • If the newly uploaded Excel spreadsheet contains the 'Name' field but lacks 'Email ID' and/or 'Phone Number' of the customer, the existing data will not be overwritten in the Birdeye database, and the data within the account will remain intact.

  • If the upload contains the same 'Email ID' with different 'Names,' then it will override the 'Name' of the contact with the latest one uploaded.
