How to create a referral campaign template?
Using Birdeye, businesses can ask their customers for referrals, which can help them gain new customers and increase revenue. You can create referral campaign templates within your account and use them in referral email or text campaigns. This will allow your customers to click on one or more referral sources and refer your business to their family and friends.
Creating A Referral Template
Click the 'Campaigns' tab on the left navigation rail and select the 'Templates' tab in the top panel.
Once on the 'Templates' page, you can view the template types (Text and Email). Let's take the 'Email' template as an example to understand how to create a referral email template.
To create a new referral email template, click the 'Email' tab and click the 'Create template' button.
This opens a pop-up window that allows you to select a template type. In this case, select the 'Referrals’ option.
Here, you can customize the entire template according to your business needs. You can customize six different sections of your referral email template: 'General,' 'Referral image,' 'Referral request email,' 'Referral message,' 'Referral form,' and the 'Thank you page.'
The template name is set to 'Referral email' by default. To customize it, click the pencil icon and make the changes.
General
The 'General' section allows you to show and hide replies to emails and set up an email signature. You can also customize the fields in this section to offer rewards or gifts for customers who provide successful referrals.
NOTE:
You can personalize the email signature in this section using tokens. To add a token, click the 'Personalize' button in the ‘Signature’ section and select the token you want to add.
Show and hide replies | Toggle the switch to show and hide replies from customers to this email as incoming messages in the Birdeye Inbox. |
Signature | Personalize your email templates via tokens. The tokens fetch the location's name, phone number, or other relevant details automatically and add those details to the referral email. |
Referral Image
The referral image will be used for your referral invite and form. You can also update the default image.
NOTE:
To add a new image, ensure the size is 1200 X 628.
Referral Request Email
This section allows you to customize the messaging and referral sources.
Preview | Preview your email at any point. |
Text editor and Custom HTML | Customize the email text by editing the text and embedding the HTML code. |
Email subject line | By default, the subject line is 'Refer a friend, get $50.’ Use the 'Email subject line' box to configure a new subject line. |
Heading | Add a customized header line to your email. |
Message | Add a customized message to your email. |
Referral sources | Select up to four referral sources for your customers to refer your business. To change the order of the sites, you can drag and drop the buttons and arrange them in your preferred order. |
NOTE:
Businesses can include hyperlinks within the referral lead forms.
Referral Message
Configure a customized message you want your customers to share on your chosen referral sources. This will determine the effectiveness of your campaign.
Customize the 'Email subject line' and ‘Default copy for the personal message.’
You can also add tokens to personalize the message. It will include a link to the Birdeye referral form, where your customers' referrals can enter their information.
Referral Form
Preview | Preview your email at any point. |
Custom referral form | If you want to redirect the referees to a form other than the Birdeye referral form, enable the switch and enter the URL to which you wish to redirect the referees. |
Heading | Customize the heading to your referral form. |
Message | Configure a message on the referral form. |
Text on button | Customize the text on the button configured on the referral form. |
Add a question on the referral form | Configure the questions and answer choices in the referral form. By default, you can customize three choices. To add more options, click the 'Add option' button. |
Thank You Page
Customize the message that will appear on the 'Thank you page' after a customer submits their feedback.
Enable the page to customize the six following fields:
Preview | Preview the page at any point. |
Show thank you page | Enable the switch to show the page after the referral form is filled out. |
Heading | Add a customized heading to the page. |
Message | Add a customized thank you message. |
Custom call to action button | Enter the text you want to display on the call to action button |
Custom call to action URL | Enter the URL where you want the referee to be redirected when they click the call-to-action button. |
NOTE:
The 'Thank you' page will not be available for customization if you use a 'Custom referral form.'
Once your template setup is complete, scroll to the top and click ‘Save’ to apply the changes.
