How to Explore Competitor Profile Performance and Post Stream?

The social competitor feature includes two key reports that help benchmark your brand's performance against competitors and a separate report to check competitor post content and their performance. The competitor benchmarks report compares your brand's performance on metrics such as audience growth, publishing behavior, and engagement. The competitor posts report provides insights into competitors' social posts and their engagement, helping you identify top-performing content and trends.

 

Getting Started

 

Click ‘Social’ in the left navigation rail.

 

Go to the ‘Competitors’ tab and select ‘Benchmarks.’

 

Select your social channels and the pages associated with them from the dropdown under the ‘Your channels’ section to compare with the competitors.

NOTE:

Birdeye currently supports Facebook, X, and Instagram as social channels for comparison.

 

 

 

Click ‘Add competitors’ to compare your social channels' performance with competitors.

 

A drawer appears on the right side of the screen with social channel icons at the top. Search for a competitor's page and click on it. The image below shows a search for a competitor from Facebook.

 

Click ‘Add’ to add the competitor for comparisons.

NOTE:

You can add up to 5 competitor profiles/pages per social channel.

 

 

 

Similarly, click on the ‘X’ icon to look for a competitor on X and select ‘Instagram’ to look for competitors on Instagram.

NOTE:

After adding your profile and competitors' profiles, it takes 24 hours to retrieve the data.

 

 

 

Click ‘Dropdown’ to unselect or select the profiles/pages to edit after adding the competitors’ social profiles/pages.

 

In case, you want to delete competitor(s) and add a new one. Go to ‘Add competitors' and click ‘Manage Competitors.’

 

Click the delete icon corresponding to the competitor's page to remove it from the competitor channels.

 

Competitor comparisons are calculated and displayed using data from the past 30 days.

 

 

Summary

 

The summary section offers an overview of performance metrics and averages, focusing on ‘Audience growth, Publishing activity, and Audience engagement.’

 

 

Audience Growth

 

Compare your average audience growth to competitors over the past 30 days across selected social channels.

 

Alternatively, you can hover over the bar graph on any social channel to view the data. This feature is also applicable to ‘Publishing activity and Audience engagement,’ which will be explored below.

 

Scroll down, and the section displays the average number of ‘Followers, Net follower growth, and % Follower growth.’
 

Followers: The number of Facebook, X, or Instagram followers the profile had on the last day of the reporting period.

Net Follower Growth: The net number of Facebook, X, or Instagram followers you gained during the reporting period.

% Follower Growth: The percent change in Facebook, X, or Instagram followers from the beginning to the end of the selected time period. This is equal to net follower growth divided by the followers on the first day of the selected time period.


Click dropdown buttons to view metrics for each social page across all selected social channels.

 

You can view ‘Followers, Net follower growth, and % Follower growth’ for every page selected for comparison across all social channels.

 

Publishing Activity


View different types of posts you and your competitors published on social channels during the selected time period.

 

View your and competitors ‘Total number of posts, posts that contain videos, posts that include photos, Links, and text only posts for every selected social channel.’

 

Click the ‘Arrow’ icon to view the text only section.

 

Click the dropdown to view the total number of posts, posts containing videos, posts including photos, Links, and text-only posts for every social profile/page across all selected social channels.

 

 

Audience Engagement

 

The average number of times that users engaged with posts published across selected social channels during your selected time period.

 

View your and competitors' average number of ‘Total engagements, Engagements per post, Likes, Comments, and Shares’ for every social channel type.

 

Click the ‘Arrow’ icon to view the average number of shares.

 

Click the dropdown to view the number of ‘Total engagements, Engagements per post, Likes, Comments, and Shares’ for every social profile/page across all selected social channels.

 


Top Performing Posts

 

View top 9 posts with highest engagements across owned & competitor profiles in the selected time period.


Click the ‘List view’ icon to view the posts in the list view.

 

Click the ‘Three vertical dots’ to ‘Download, Email, or Schedule’ the benchmarks report.


Click ‘Posts’ to view the competitor posts.

 

Add competitors social profiles/pages across the selected social channels.


You can sort and view posts by ‘High engagement, Newest, or Low engagement.’
