How to Create and Use Custom Tokens Across Locations (For Resellers)

Resellers can create and manage custom tokens for use in social posts across all businesses. This powerful feature enables resellers to publish a single social post using custom tokens, eliminating the need to create posts for each account manually. Customize and personalize content at scale by setting up location-specific tokens that reflect unique business details so businesses can easily ensure consistent branding and boost engagement across all locations.

Creating Custom Tokens

Go to ‘Locations,’ click the three vertical dots menu icon, and select ‘Manage custom tokens.’

Click ‘Create custom token.’

Enter the ‘Custom token name’ in the first field. Click the dropdown button and select the ‘Custom token type’ from the dropdown options. It can be used as a ‘Number,’ ‘Text,’ and ‘URL.’

Since the token being created focuses on the website link, select 'URL' as the token type.

You can select ‘All Businesses’ or choose specific ones where the token should be applied.

Enter the value under the ‘Default Value’ section where you want to redirect users. The last field, ‘Description,’ is optional, and click ‘Save’ to create a custom token.

Once you save, you will view a notification at the top with the custom token details mentioned below.

Hover over the three vertical dots, click ‘Actions’ to ‘Edit’ or ‘Delete’ the token.

If you want to bulk update different values for multiple or all locations, click ‘Custom tokens.’

Download the template by clicking ‘custom token values.’

Navigate to the ‘Custom Token Mapping’ tab, where the first three columns are automatically populated. Begin adding your custom tokens starting from the fourth column onward. For example, as shown in the image below, an 'Insurance ID' custom token was created with different values assigned to each location.

Return to the Birdeye app and upload the file to import custom tokens.

Custom Fields Under Location

You can view agency-created tokens under the locations.

Go to the location’s business page, click ‘Actions’, and select ‘Manage custom tokens.’

The icon highlighted in the image below represents the agency created the token.

Go to the business location’s ‘Manage your business profile’ page.

Scroll down to view the custom tokens created by the agency under the ‘Agency created tokens’ section.

Under the 'Custom tokens' section, you can view custom tokens created by the business. Click the ‘Edit’ button, portrayed as a pencil icon, to customize the value for this particular location.

For instance, if you're creating a social media post for all locations and want to target every location with the same link except for one with its unique website landing page, you can tailor the content accordingly. Suppose you want to focus on customers from this location, landing on the services page. You can customize the link for this location to direct specifically to the services page. When the post is published, the target audience for this particular location will receive the customized link, ensuring they land on the intended page, while the rest of your customers from other locations will receive a link used initially to create the custom token. Once done, click ‘Save.’

Using Custom Tokens

Go to ‘Social AI’ and click ‘Create post.’

Select the locations and social channels. Enter the content, click ‘Personalize,’ and select the custom token you want to add. The custom token will appear by the name provided to the token and the value underneath it.

You will view two sections under the personalized tokens:

Business-created tokens - All business-level tokens created by a business will be viewed under the Business section.

Agency-created tokens - The tokens that agencies create will fall under this section.

Here’s how it will appear depending on the token you select. Now you can create a social post with custom tokens.
