How do I set up Competitors AI?

To access competitive benchmarking in Social AI, Reviews AI, and Insights AI, users must first set up Competitors AI. This feature enables businesses to add and manage relevant competitors for strategic insights. They can focus on— Brand-level, Local, or Both, ensuring a tailored competitive analysis. With multiple setup options—AI generation, manual addition, or bulk upload—the process is simple and adaptable.

The following steps will guide you through getting started.

Setting Up Competitors AI

Go to ‘Settings,’ navigate to the ‘Competitors’ tab and select ‘Manage competitors.’

The left navigation bar appears, allowing you to select the competitor focus. Choose your preferred focus area from ‘Local competitors’, ‘National brands’ or ‘Both’, then click ‘Proceed’ to continue.

The competitor addition options—AI, Manual, or Bulk—appear based on the selected focus area. These options remain consistent across all focus areas. Click ‘Proceed’.

Handy Tip:

If you make a manual selection, you can select an additional method and complete the process. Once added, competitors are updated in the database and reflected in the setup.

Click 'Add Competitor' and select ‘Add brand’ to include a competitor.

A drawer opens on the right side. In the first field, enter the competitor’s brand name.

After entering the competitor's brand name, a field labeled ‘Website’ will appear. Enter the website URL for the same competitor whose name has been entered in the ‘Brand Name’ field.

By default, the option ‘Find and automatically add locations with AI’ is selected under Competitor locations. In this case, AI will automatically identify and add your competitor’s business locations near your business locations. Click ‘Add’ to proceed with AI to fetch the competitor locations.

NOTE:

Your business locations refer to the number of locations you’ve added to this account. The competitor's business locations will be fetched near your business locations that are added to this account.

Here’s an example of business locations added to this account.

Add Locations Manually

Select ‘Manually add locations’ to add locations yourself when the AI cannot fetch locations and click ‘Add competitor locations.’

A new drawer opens on the right side. Under the ‘My location’ field, click the dropdown button to select your desired business location.

In the ‘Competitor location’ field, enter the competitor’s location name as it appears on Google or Yelp.

Once the competitor’s location is selected, the Basic Info section details will auto-populate. Click ‘Add’ in the top right corner of the page to finalize adding the competitor’s location.

Review Info

Some of the review sites will be added automatically but to add specific review sites from different sources for that particular competitor’s location business, click ‘Add manually.’

A drawer will open on the right side to add a review site. In the ‘Source’ section, select a review source from the list—for example, TripAdvisor. In the ‘Review Site’ section, enter the URL of the reviews page for the selected review source of the competitor's business location. Click ‘Add’ to monitor competitor’s reviews from that particular source.

To explore various review sites that have been added for competitor’s business location, go to the main page and click on the brand name.

Hover over the desired competitor’s business location and click on the pencil icon.

Under the ‘Review Info’ section, you can view the review sites from various sources that are being tracked for that particular competitor’s business location.

Disable, Edit, and Delete Competitors

The added competitors are displayed under the ‘Competitors’ section on the left side of the page. Seven brand competitors have been added here. Click on the competitor’s brand name to view details.

You can view details such as ‘Brand name, Website, and Competitor locations.’ Hover over the competitor location and toggle off the switch to disable the competitive benchmarking of that specific business location compared to yours. Click on the pencil icon to ‘Edit’ the location. Click on the bin icon to delete this particular competitor’s brand location from your competitor’s list.

Return to the main page, hover over the competitor’s brand name, and toggle the switch to disable competitive benchmarking for that particular competitor’s all business locations.

Click the ‘Three vertical dots’ to edit details or delete the entire competitor and its business locations from your competitors’ list.

Navigate to the ‘Locations’ tab to view the number of competitors in and near your business locations. In this case, there are 34 competitors near 10 of my business’s locations.
