How to Suppress Duplicate Listings in Birdeye?
Duplicate listings can negatively affect your business’s SEO performance. Birdeye allows you to identify, manage, and suppress duplicate listings across locations. You can suppress duplicates, mark them as not duplicates, or manually submit duplicate listings for review.
Duplicate Suppression
Access Duplicate Suppression:
Navigate to the ‘Listings AI’ tab.
Click on 'Duplicate Suppression.'
Dashboard Overview
View key metrics like Total Duplicates, Possible Duplicates, Processing Suppression, Failed Suppression, and Suppressed listings.
Use the search bar to find specific listings.
Filter results by location or site name.
Reporting Duplicate Listings
For Listings That Support Manual Reporting:
Click on 'Report Duplicate.'
In the pop-up drawer, enter the following details:
- Business location with the duplicate listing.
- The site where the duplicate exists.
- URL of the duplicate listing.
Click 'Create Support Ticket' to notify the Birdeye Support Team, who will assist in processing the duplicate listing.
To track the status of the ticket:
- Filter the listings by the site name.
- Click the three vertical dots and select ‘View Support Ticket’ to see details.
For Listings That Support Direct Submission
Click on ‘Report Duplicate.’
In the pop-up drawer, provide the following:
- Business location with the duplicate listing.
- The site where the duplicate exists.
- URL of the duplicate listing.
Click ‘Submit’ to report the duplicate. In this case, no support ticket is generated, and the report is submitted directly to the listing site.
The suppression process typically takes up to seven days. Track the suppression status under the Processing Suppression tab.
Performing Actions on Duplicate Listings
Suppress or Mark as Not a Duplicate:
- Go to the 'Possible Duplicates' tab.
- Click the three vertical dots next to a listing and select ‘Suppress or Not a Duplicate.’
Cancel Suppression:
- Navigate to the 'Processing Suppression' tab.
- Click the three vertical dots next to a listing and select 'Cancel Suppression' (available for 24 hours after marking a listing as suppressed).
Unsuppress Listings:
- Once a listing is suppressed, it will appear under the Suppressed tab.
- You can Unsuppress the listing within 12 hours by selecting the option from the three vertical dots menu.
If a listing fails to be suppressed, it will appear under the ‘Failed Suppression’ tab, along with the reason for the failure.
Click on ‘Possible duplicates’ to view listings that may be duplicates. These listings are automatically identified and fetched by Birdeye and are displayed here by default.
Click the three vertical dots corresponding to the listing to select ‘Suppress’ or ‘Not a duplicate.’
Click the three vertical dots on the top right corner of the page to download, email, and schedule the report.
Bulk Actions
To save time, Birdeye allows you to perform bulk actions for duplicate listings:
- Select multiple listings at once.
- Apply actions like Suppress, Mark as Not a Duplicate, or Cancel Suppression.
Key Notes for Duplicate Suppression:
- Some sites allow actions like Suppress, Cancel Suppression, and Mark as Not a Duplicate directly in Birdeye.
- For other sites, duplicates are reported directly, and the suppression process is handled externally.
- Cancel suppression is available for 24 hours after marking a listing as suppressed.
Unsuppressed listings will appear in the Possible Duplicates tab once updated during the weekly sync.
By following these steps, you can effectively manage duplicate listings and maintain an accurate online presence for your business.
