Birdeye Score
The Birdeye Score in the Benchmarking section is calculated by averaging the combined totals of the Reputation and Sentiment Scores for each business. The score ranges from 0 to 100 with color-coded indicators:
0-45: Red, indicating room for improvement
46-75: Yellow, reflecting moderate performance
76-100: Green, signifying good online health
You can view the Birdeye Score, along with the Reputation and Sentiment Scores, for both your business and your competitors. This provides a clear understanding of how your business compares to the competition.
Scroll to the right to view the scores of two remaining competitors.
To learn more about the Reputation and Sentiment Scores, refer to the article - Insights AI Reputation and Sentiment Scores.
The ‘+/-’ score highlighted in the image below indicates the change in the Birdeye Score over the selected time period, in this case, the last 90 days. The change will vary based on the time period selected.
You can also view the ‘Strengths and Weaknesses’ of your brand and your competitors’ brands. This analysis highlights your strengths and identifies areas for improvement, helping you focus on categories that require your attention.
The ‘Strengths and Weaknesses’ are based on the categories added in the settings. To learn more about setting up categories, refer to the article - How do I create Categories?
Reputation Score Breakdown
This section provides a breakdown of the Reputation Score for your brand and your competitors’ brands, based on review counts and average ratings. The vertical axis (0-5) represents the star ratings, while the horizontal axis (0-550) shows the number of reviews. The circles labeled with letters represent your competitors, while the circle with a brand logo represents your brand.
Hover the circles to view the exact number of your and your competitors’ Reputation Scores, review counts, and average ratings.
Switch to ‘Location’ to view location-level Reputation Score, review count, and average rating.
Sentiment Score By Category
This section allows you to compare your Sentiment Score across various business categories with those of your competitors. The Sentiment Score is represented using the following indicators:
Green background (76-100): Represents a high volume of positive Sentiment Scores.
Yellow background (46-75): Represents a medium volume of Sentiment Scores.
Red background (0-45): Represents a low volume of Sentiment Scores.
Compare the Sentiment Score by category, with categories listed right below the graph bars (e.g., Staff, Value, Drinks, etc.). Different color-coded bars represent your competitors’ scores, and one of the bars represents yours for each category. At the bottom, you can view the colors corresponding to your competitors’ bars as well as your own.
You can also hover over the bar to view the detailed Sentiment Scores for each category. For example, the image below shows the scores for you and your competitors in the ‘Staff’ category. Analyzing these scores reveals that three competitors have a higher volume of positive Sentiment Scores than your brand for this specific category.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Navigate to the ‘Strengths & Weaknesses’ section, where the AI analyzes both your brand’s and your competitors' strengths and weaknesses. The AI highlights areas where your brand excels, marked as ‘You are winning.’ It also identifies areas where your competitor outperforms you, as well as where both brands are strong or weak.
Scroll down to explore strengths and weaknesses with another competitor. If you see ‘We couldn’t find any insights,’ it means there is not enough data to generate insights. In this case, we recommend increasing the time period from 90 days to 120 days or more to ensure sufficient data is captured for analysis.
Trends
In this section, you can view Birdeye Score over time, illustrating how scores fluctuate over time for your brand and competitors’ brands.
Scroll down, and similarly, you can view Positive sentiment over time and Reviews and ratings over time.
Switch to 'Ratings' to view Ratings over time.
Themes
Navigate to the ‘Themes’ section, where you will see green, yellow, and red-colored circles containing keywords. Alongside, you can find an overall summary of customers' feedback. The green color indicates positive feedback, the yellow represents neutral feedback, and the red signifies negative feedback. The very first section under Themes will cover a summary and keywords for your brand.
Scroll down to view your competitors’ themes. Hover over a specific color to see the associated feedback keyword and the total number of mentions.
Click on a keyword—for example, ‘Unsatisfactory Food’—from one of your competitor’s themes, and you will be redirected to the Snippets page. Here, you can view reviews related to ‘Unsatisfactory Food’ not only for that specific competitor but also for other selected competitors.
Snippets
Alternatively, you can also visit the Snippets page by clicking the ‘Snippets’ tab.
You will view a word cloud. Click on a specific word to view the reviews associated with it. This can be used for your brand and competitors’ brands.
