End of Support for TLS 1.0/1.1 on Birdeye REST API

Customer data security is our highest priority and we always take necessary steps to comply with the latest global security standards and protocols.

Starting March 1, 2022, Birdeye REST APIs will only support connections that use TLS v1.2 and strong cipher suites. We will no longer support deprecated protocols TLS v1.0/1.1 and weak cipher suites.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) is used to secure communications over the internet. Known vulnerabilities have been identified in TLS v1.0/1.1 and therefore these protocols are no longer considered secure. As of March 2021, TLS v1.0/1.1 has been formally deprecated by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) (RFC 8996).

Your To-Do List:

If you are using an older operating system or networking software, you will need to update your systems to ensure compatibility with these changes. If the systems are not updated, the Birdeye REST API integration will not work and will result in service disruptions. You can contact your IT administrator for more help. If you have any questions, please reach out to our support team at support@birdeye.com. 

Error Messages

These are some common error messages that may indicate your system does not support the security changes:

  •  Server aborted the SSL handshake
  • Connection refused
  • Handshake failed
  • Unable to connect to the remote server
  • Connection forcibly closed by the remote host
  • Connection timed out
  • Null response object (RestSharp .NET client)*
