How to configure the AI Search Score

Configure the AI Search Score to control how Visibility Score, Citation Share, Average Rank, and Sentiment Score contribute to your overall score. You can adjust the weighting of each metric based on what matters most to your business, as long as the total weighting equals 100%.

NOTE:

The AI Search score is a weighted score based on Visibility Score, Citation share, Rank, and Sentiment score. Changing the weights changes how much each metric contributes to the overall AI Search Score; it does not change the underlying values of those individual metrics. To learn more about the metrics shown in the AI Search Overview, read: Understanding the AI Search Overview Tab and Score.

Access AI Search Score settings

  1. From the left navigation menu, click AI Search.

  2. Expand Settings.

  3. Click AI Search score.

Configure the AI Search Score

On the AI Search score page, you can customize how much each metric contributes to your overall AI Search Score. The available metrics are Visibility score, Citation share, Average rank, and Sentiment score.

The Default marker shown below each slider indicates the default weighting assigned to that metric. Use this marker as a reference when adjusting the weighting based on your requirements.

Each metric has a configurable percentage value and a slider. Increase or decrease the weighting for a metric based on how important it is to your business.

For example, in the screenshot above, the Citation share weighting has been increased from 20% to 30%. As a result, the combined weighting of the four metrics is now 110%.

The total weighting must always equal 100%. When the values exceed or fall below 100%, an alert appears prompting you to adjust the weights before saving the configuration.

In this example, the Visibility score weighting was reduced from 40% to 30%, while the Citation share weighting was increased to 30%. This brings the combined weighting of all four metrics back to 100%.

Once the total reaches 100%, the warning message at the top disappears, indicating that the weighting is valid.

You can adjust the weights based on which metrics you want to prioritize, as long as the combined weighting remains 100%.

On the right side of the page, the Preview section shows how your configured weighting affects the overall AI Search score.

The preview displays the updated AI Search score alongside the individual metric values, including Visibility score, Citation share, Average rank, and Sentiment score. This allows you to review the impact of your weighting changes before saving the configuration.

Save or restore the AI Search Score settings

After configuring the metric weights, you can choose Save to apply your changes.

If you want to return to the default weighting, click Restore to default. This resets the metric weights to their default values.
