Important: Federal Registry Sync (NPPES)

While Birdeye helps keep your profile information accurate, the NPPES (National Plan and Provider Enumeration System) is a federal database.

  • The Role of NPPES: Many healthcare directories use NPPES as their "source of truth."

  • The Process: When you update your information through Birdeye, we push that data to our partner network. However, if your official NPI record (NPPES) still contains old information, some directories may revert your changes or flag them for review.

Pro-tip: We highly recommend ensuring your NPI Profile is updated directly at the federal level to ensure the fastest and most stable sync across the entire healthcare ecosystem.

Summary of Publisher Logic

Before reaching out to support, keep these three "Golden Rules" of healthcare listings in mind:

  1. Provider vs. Location: Most of the sites above (like RateMDs or Vitals) are built around the individual doctor. If you are looking for a page for your "Clinic Name" on these sites, it may not exist by design.

  2. Category Restrictions: Certain sites, like Healthgrades or DocSpot, may prioritize MDs and DOs. Mid-level providers like Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) may not be published on every site in the network due to specific publisher-side directory policies.

  3. The "Active" Requirement: If a provider does not have an Active NPI status, healthcare-specific sites will automatically reject the listing sync to maintain medical data integrity.
