Mastering Your Business Profile: Required Content & Accuracy

To ensure your business information is accepted by publishers like Google, Facebook, and Healthgrades, Birdeye requires a specific set of "Source Data." Think of this as the Digital Foundation for your brand.

1. The "Required Content" (The Basics)

These fields are mandatory. If any of these are missing, Birdeye cannot create or "fix" your listing.

  • Official Business Name: Must reflect your real-world branding. No keyword stuffing or promotional slogans.

  • Categories: You must select from Birdeye’s standardized list. Publishers will reject custom categories.

  • Physical Address: Includes Street, City, State, and Zip. (Note: P.O. Boxes are generally not accepted for local listings).

  • Phone Number: You must provide a direct local phone number.

    • Note on Call Tracking: If you use a tracked phone number (e.g., from a third party), you must still provide the "Main Line" local number to maintain SEO trust.

  • Description: A minimum of 200 characters describing your unique services.

2. "Additional Content" (The Competitive Edge)

While the basics get you listed, this additional data gets you chosen. We highly recommend populating these fields to improve your search ranking:

Content Type

Why it Matters

Hours of Operation

Crucial for "Open Now" search filters.

Website URL

Drives direct traffic; essential for Google Verification.

Logos & Photos

Listings with photos receive 35% more clicks than those without.

Social Links

Connects your Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube to your search profile.

Staff/Provider Bios and NPI

Essential for healthcare sites (Healthgrades/Vitals) to build patient trust.

Data Integrity & Your Responsibility

At Birdeye, we provide the "pipes" to distribute your data, but the customer remains the owner of the data's accuracy. ### The Accuracy Commitment

By using Birdeye Listings, you agree to:

  • Periodically Review: Perform a monthly check of your Required Content within the Birdeye dashboard to ensure it reflects your current operations.

  • Update Promptly: If a location closes, moves, or changes its name, updates must be made in the Birdeye dashboard immediately to prevent customer confusion and "Action Required" flags.

  • Prohibited Content: You agree not to upload content that is inaccurate, abusive, defamatory, or violates trademark laws.

NOTE:

Birdeye’s Right to Correct

To ensure your listings do not "break" or get suspended by publishers:

If a mandatory field is left blank, Birdeye reserves the right to use reasonable discretion to populate that field with relevant data found via your website or existing public records. This is done to ensure your listing remains active and functional.

Best Practices for "Display Address" & Suppression

  • Suite/Floor Numbers: If you are located inside a mall or professional building, use the Display Address field (e.g., "Located on the 2nd floor of the Medical Center"). This helps customers find you without confusing the Google GPS coordinates.

  • Service-Area Businesses: If you are a mobile business (e.g., a plumber or home-health provider), you can select the "Suppress Street Address" flag. This allows you to show up in search results for a specific city without displaying your home or warehouse address.
